CANAC is a national professional nursing organization with four categories of membership all of which end October 31 of the calendar year. Individuals/groups joining after September 1st are given extended membership for the balance of the fiscal year for a total of 14 months of membership.

Nurse (Regular)

For registered nurses, nurse practitioners, registered psychiatric nurses, registered practical nurses and licensed practical nurses that currently hold an active nursing license or registration.  

Members shall:

  • have full voting privileges
  • be eligible to hold office and sit on committees

Student

For full-time nursing students committed to supporting CANAC’s mission, at a reduced membership rate. 

Members shall:

  • be voting members
  • be eligible to sit on committees

Student members who hold a valid nursing license are also eligible to hold office.

Associate

For all other registered/licensed health professionals (including social workers, dieticians, physicians and other allied professions) committed to supporting CANAC’s mission, at a reduced membership rate.

Members shall:

  • be non-voting members
  • eligible to sit on committees

Peer

Peer membership is open to any person living with HIV committed to supporting CANAC’s mission.

Organizational

For non-public funded or social care organizations, non-governmental organizations and community based organizations engaged in the provision of HIV/AIDS related services, committed to supporting CANAC’s mission.

Members shall:

  • be voting members (if members hold a valid nursing license), and able to cast one vote on behalf of their whole organization. 
  • be eligible to have one representative sit on committees

If no member has a nursing license, the organization is deemed a ‘Non voting member’. Organizational Members who hold a valid nursing license are also able to hold office

Honorary Membership

Honorary members shall be nurses who meet the Regular Membership criteria and who have received unanimous approval of the Board of Directors in recognition of outstanding contributions in support of the mission of the Association. Honorary members shall have the same rights and privileges as any other member in good standing but will be exempt from paying annual dues.

Group Membership

CANAC will offer a reduced rate of $40 per person, where a health organization is registering membership for over 20 members of staff. To qualify for the reduced rate, all membership applications must be received at the same time. Email us at canachq@gmail.com if you and your colleagues are interest in Group Registration.

If you wish to join or renew your membership by mail, email us at canachq@gmail.com for a copy of our updated membership application/renewal form. Once completed you can return it, along with a cheque payable to CANAC.
